The Beach 2014 - The Rest of the Week

We had such a great time.  The weather was chilly, mainly because of the wind, for several days, but we still tried to get out onto the beach for at least a little while each day.

Liza was not sure at first about me even leaving her on the blanket.
I think Kara Jane helped to make it more fun for her.
Levi learned to play all sorts of "beach games" - Bocci ball (spelling, anyone?), a washer game that CC and Chris made, football, etc.

If we weren't on the beach, we were playing board games, reading, watching "Frozen" or "The Adventures of Clutch Powers", cooking...
dancing to Oldies...

We also did a picture scavenger hunt one morning, went to nearby Apalachicola, and went to a local museum type place, which we all enjoyed.

Kara Jane didn't want to wear her coat, so Gary decided he would wear it.
Not sure why Levi didn't want to smile on this one.  Getting on the turtle was his idea.
Chris wanted to figure out the kiddie game.
Kara Jane found some books to "read".
She and Roo liked looking at all the sea creatures.
Then the girls had a turn on the turtle.

We had such a wonderful week.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, Khaki and Q!!!

The Beach 2014 - First Full Day

For Christmas 2013, we got a trip to the beach from Khaki and Q - for all of us, as in our whole family, my sisters and their families along with my parents.  This was our first trip to St. George Island.  Despite the cooler weather, we loved it, and we plan for it to be the first of many.

We were the last to arrive on our first Saturday at the beach, because Levi had a baseball game.  He's playing coach pitch this season.  When we finally got to the beach, we had some dinner and walked on the beach after that.

The next morning, our first full day, the kids were ready to hit the beach.  Kara Jane got some new sunglasses - Sofia the First, of course.
This girl ran straight into the water - literally, with her cover up on and everything.  She quickly realized the water was quite cold.
So, she spent most of her time running around on the sand and playing in the sand.  Her important lesson for the week - besides that the water was cold was that "sand stays on sand".  CC taught her that in an effort for sand to stay off of the blankets and towels.
Levi had a great time playing near the water.

Liza, on the other hand, hated the water and sand the first day.  I think I should have left her shoes on her feet the first day.  Here, Daddy was trying to tell her that the water and sand were okay.
My kids do not like dogs, so when this huge dog was that close to Levi, I was a little worried.  Levi didn't make a big deal about it at all.  I diverted the girls' attention from the dog successfully.  No tears!
Q tried to teach Kara Jane how to build a sandcastle.
Here are Daddy and Liza Roo, with Roo totally unsure about the whole experience.

Kara liked to play with anything in the sand - including Daddy's shoes.
Kara Jane got a new Sofia trike.  She still can't pedal, but she had fun pushing the buttons to make noises and asking us to push her.
Roo still isn't taking many steps on her own, but she LOVES to walk with this walker.
