The weather today was supposed to be rainy and stormy, so we headed to Charleston for the day. It was pouring when we left but quickly cleared up when we were just a few miles off the island. We went to the aquarium, and Levi loved it. The picture below was of Levi in this section of the aquarium were you could crawl "into" an exhibit of lemurs - basically a plastic bubble so it looks like you're in the midst of the lemurs.
He found an "under 5" area and played there for quite a while. He pretended he was in prison... played with some puppets / stuffed animals... slid down the slide... delivered packages.
Kara Jane thought the fish were pretty neat.
Kevin found the poke your head through picture taking opportunity and put Levi up to it.
Levi found this spinning "game", with little metal balls that represented the eggs laid by sea turtles on the beaches. You'd spin the big wheel to allow the metal balls to drop to the other side to see how many hatched babies would make it to the sea, and how many would get "caught" by distractions from lights, beach chairs, sand castles, etc.
When we got back to the beach house, Kevin's parents and aunt were here. After dinner, we thought it would be fun to take a quick trip to the beach to walk around since the weather had cleared up. Kevin went to check it out first to make sure the wind wasn't too bad. (We had gone last night, and we were pelted with sand because of the high winds!) He came back with the report that all was fine - and that he'd seen a HUGE sea turtle swimming to shore. By the time we got down there, we did not see the sea turtle - only the evidence that she had come to shore and headed back to sea.
Levi wanted to get in the water VERY badly, but we were worried about the currents. So, no water for Levi tonight.
