Happy Halloween 2012

I got a couple of pictures of Kara Jane's Halloween outfit that Khaki found for her last year.  She got bunches of compliments on it.

In the picture below, Kara Jane is holding her favorite book as of now, Mad Maddie Maxwell.  I read it at least three times and she's "asking" for it to be read to her again!

Kara Jane found Levi's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle "mask" while dinner was cooking.
And then she wanted to wear his turtle shell.  Luckily, Levi was distracted with the Wii...

Then it was time to change into the Halloween costumes.  A cute picture from behind (Khaki's favorite type of pictures).

We continued the annual tradition of trick-or-treating with the Happy Harpers.  All the kids actually cooperated for the pictures.

My two cuties.

Kevin said that after about three houses, Kara Jane started pushing away from his holding and wanted to walk to the door herself like the big kids.  She would hold out her bag and then would say, "Bye-bye" as she waved good-bye.

When she got home, it was like deja-vu to Levi's first Halloween where he understood what was going on.  She pulled out the candy from one bag, would inspect it, and then either put it back into the bag or find another bag to store it.

She had her first 3 Musketeers bar - and loved it, of course!

Fall Festival 2012

The weather turned chilly here in Birmingham, but we braved the "cold weather" for a little while to attend the Fall Festival at a nearby church.  Levi dressed up in his costume - his pick this year was to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Raphael (the red one, of course!)

He loves the bouncy houses.

When he said he wanted to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, we tried to come up with other ideas for him.  I just wasn't crazy about the idea, but he was determined.  After looking at TMNT costumes online, I decided I really didn't like the ones with the plastic-looking masks.  The first time he tried on the costume, though, even I had to admit he looked REALLY cute.

I was most concerned with warmth for Kara Jane - and not her costume.  Coat and outfit are courtesy of Khaki.  Daddy didn't button the coat very well, but can't you tell how cute it is?

Carving the Pumpkin 2012

We finally got a chance to carve one of our pumpkins.  Levi was very excited - for a little bit.

After Levi got a little bored with the ooshy-gooshy insides of the pumpkin, Kara Jane became interested.  She played in the goo for quite a while.

Levi got back into the helping mode once the inside of the pumpkin was clean - and he could help design the jack-o-lantern's face.

I thought it turned out pretty well, but circles sure are challenging to cut with a knife!

The Word

The church we attend has helped me focus on memorizing the Word with Levi.  Here are two of the verses he's memorized.  There are three more he knows.  We'll see if I can get a video soon.

Field Trip

Levi had a field trip at school - back to the farm!  So, I took the day off from work.  Here are some pictures from our morning together.  Kara Jane pretending to be a doctor, and Levi and KJ hanging out together.

Levi poses before the field trip really begins.

Trip to the Farm

We took our annual family trip to a local farm to pick out our pumpkins. This year, Kara Jane actually understood what was going on around her. She was excited to ride the tractors while the rest of the kids and a few adults when through the corn maze. Kara rode each of the three tractors she could find. She loved having Q push her around.

Levi wanted to jump in the cotton.

We even tried putting Kara Jane into the cotton, but she wasn't all too sure about it.

Levi wanted a green pumpkin again this year.
