Bananas

Levi tried bananas for the first time Saturday morning. He didn't seem to like them at all the first few bites. The majority of each bite ended up getting spit out and then sliding down his chin. Since he didn't seem to like the bananas, we moved to his oatmeal. I made it in the same coffee cup, though, in which I'd put the bananas. So he had a little of the residual taste of the bananas; I wanted to see if he might like the bananas better if they were mixed with his oatmeal. Well, he still made a little bit of a face at the oatmeal, but he ate it all. So, I decided to give the bananas themselves another try. Here is his reaction:

Sunday morning, I added the oatmeal directly to the bananas. That seemed to work much better for Levi - and he's been eating bananas every morning at school this week!

Since Levi had been feeling so much better and we all made it through the week without any further sicknesses, we finally made it to church on Sunday morning. I had to take some pictures of Levi in his cute little sweater. The first picture isn't that great of Levi, but you can see his sweater. The other one is a little bit cuter of him.

Levi reaches for just about anything and attempts to get up on his knees to propel himself forward - but he still is not "mobile". Levi also still doesn't have any teeth! Nothing to show yet for all that drooling and gnawing. I still love his gummy grins!

First Vacation

This weekend, Levi went on his first vacation to Big Canoe. Kevin and I met my parents and sisters and brother-in-law there for a long weekend. We had a really nice time, and Levi did too of course. Why wouldn't he with his grandparents, aunts, and uncle doting on him??

Seven Months

Hard to believe, but Levi is seven months old! Here are some pictures from his "birthday". He still loves his hands - loves to look at them and use them to grab things.

Priceless

Last night, Levi was playing with his "aquarium". He was putting the three fishies into the fish bowl, and he finally figured out how to pull them out. He held that fishie up for me to see and had the most adorable grin on his face. Priceless!! He was just so proud of himself, and he practiced this new skill several times and continued it tonight. However, Levi was rather cranky tonight. I guess his lack of quality naps (the school said he slept only 30 minutes TOTAL) yesterday finally caught up to him.

My Big Boy

Today, Levi had his six-month appointment - even though he'll be seven months in just one week!! Anyway, here are his stats: 19 pounds, 5 ounces; 27 inches long. My boy is in the 75th percentile for both weight and height, according to the doctor. My big boy!!

Kevin and I had a date night tonight. Grandma and Granddaddy Hughes watched Levi for us. To say that they had a wonderful time with him is probably an understatement. Kevin and I had a nice time, too. ;-)

New Pictures

Levi returned to school yesterday and today, and he did very well. I am taking tomorrow off, because he has his "six-month wellness visit" at the doctor. This visit is also our follow-up to see how his lungs and ears are doing.

I added some pictures from January 28, so you'll need to scroll down to that date to see them. Here are some other pictures and a video of Levi just being Levi.

"It's a Major Award!"

--Ralphie's dad, A Christmas Story

Yep, that's right! I won! I was nominated for this Major Award by my dearest friend, Jamie! Thanks, Jamie!! As an award recipient, I am to tell you seven random things about me.

1. I love fun socks, e.g. socks with hearts, flowers, a "fun" color. I really love that my little guy has fun socks, too. His first fun socks were from someone who didn't even know that I love fun socks. The gift was a box of about five pairs of socks, each pair a different color, but each with monkeys! Other fun socks for Levi have come from his adoring aunts and his mama K.

2. I miss peanut butter. I cut out peanut butter since nursing Levi, because his tummy just didn't seem to agree with peanut butter.

3. I love to read. My MIL lets me borrow these "sappy Christian 'Love Inspired' books" that are obviously not fantastic pieces of literature. However, they are easy reads that I can pick up and put down easily - and require little brain power to remember the plot and characters, because they are all quite similar. I just finished one that was SO bad, I couldn't not read it. It was like watching a train wreck. Maybe this next one will be slightly better.

4. I miss living in Alabama - or more accurately I miss living near my family and friends.

5. I would love to have an Endless Pool. Just think - a "pool" that could fit in my own house, with water at my preferred temperature, and all for my swimming enjoyment year-round!!

6. I cannot wait until summer - or at least spring. I do not enjoy winter - it is dark, cold, and usually damp. Yuck.

7. Growing up, I always thought it would be fun to have four children - three boys and one girl.

I nominate: Audry, Katie, Angela, and Amy.

The Forest

My past several blogs have been all about Levi's illness. They have been silent on the positive things that have been going on with Levi. You could say Mama has let the blog focus on the tree and not the forest. So, I'm going to attempt to fix that with this blog.

Levi is sitting up really well. He has very few occasions when he topples now, but I still tend to be worried, so the Boppy remains behind him to "catch" him, just in case. He stretches himself out to reach for toys that he wants, and he will occasionally fall face first in his efforts. Usually, though, he'll be able to right himself into his sitting position.

Levi likes to put his paci in his mouth himself. Levi still loves his bath. His new favorite bathtime fun is to suck on a clean, wet washcloth. He still really enjoys splashing, too, but he sometimes concentrates so hard on the sucking that he forgets to splash! Levi likes to turn the pages while we read. He gets frustrated sometimes if I don't wait on him to turn the page himself.

Levi loves to eat in his high chair. He has moved beyond rice cereal to trying oatmeal, which he wasn't too crazy about, and carrots, which really have grown on him. Our first attempts at carrots were short lived due to his sickness, but we're moving forward now. I'm debating now as to what will be next for Levi's food repertoire - sweet peas or sweet potatoes. Oh, the dilemma! ;-)

Levi loves the Fisher Price Musical Aquarium that he got for Christmas. I pulled it out last week, and he loves to put the fishies in it. He hasn't quite mastered getting the fishies out of the aquarium, but that doesn't really affect his enjoyment.

He also has started playing with his Fisher Price Dunk-N-Cheer. He's finally understanding how to shoot a basket, but he loves to push the basketball on the left, pull the basket down to make the crowd "cheer", move the numbers on the top round and round, and push the little boy on the right.

Levi slept through the night last night - for me at least. He cried for about a minute around 9 pm but then didn't wake up again until 4 am. That's what time I'd need him to wake up if I was going to work, so it was wonderful. Except of course when I woke up at 1:30 in a panic remembering that I hadn't heard him. I'm not counting on this being his "norm", but oh how I wish it would be!

Levi is feeling much better. He is no longer wheezing, and his coughing sounds so much better, also. He continues to get a fever in the late afternoon, though, which is why I am home with him again today. Well, that's as good of an excuse as I needed anyway! I think I will have to go back to work tomorrow, but I will be off again with Levi on Friday to go back to the doctor.
