Reveal

There's a little news from the Hughes family that hasn't been published on this blog to date... We are expecting baby #3 on January 20, 2013. The news came as a bit of a surprise to us, but we trust that God has a wonderful plan and purpose.

Tomorrow actually marks that we are 19 weeks pregnant. Usually the gender revealing sonogram is not done until 20 weeks, but my doctor scheduled ours early. We decided, since this is #3, that we would do things differently. Kevin saw pictures from a photographer who had taken a "gender reveal party" shoot. We thought it sounded like fun.

So, this past Tuesday, we had our sonogram. We took Levi and Kara Jane with us. We all got to see a healthy baby, but we asked the technician not to show us the gender. Instead, she wrote it on a card. She put the card and an ultrasound picture into an envelope, which she sealed. We took the sealed envelope directly to a local baker, so we wouldn't be tempted to peek. We asked for a blue cake if it is a boy and pink cake if it is a girl. Then the waiting continued.

Today, we picked up the cake and had our own gender reveal party.

We asked our family and friends to cast their votes.

We also asked for our guests to give us name ideas for our little bundle. We read them before we cut the cake and got some really great - and some funny - ideas.

We grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs. I've craved hamburgers like I did when I was pregnant with Levi. And then Kevin and I cut the cake.

It's another girl!!
