Khaki, Q, and Audry came for their last visit before we move. Before they got to our house on Saturday morning, Levi warmed up with a little dancing - well, that's what we call it anyway.
Levi was still recovering from his cold over the weekend, so he wasn't quite as active as usual. Before Khaki, Q, and Audy left on Sunday, they watched a little "Bob" (i.e. Veggie Tales).
Levi loved having them visit. Our closing and moving dates are quickly approaching. It is hard to believe, we're almost there. We've told Levi that we're moving, but I wouldn't say that he understands. It's going to be a big change for us all, but we're excited about it.
This is how I left my boys this Tuesday morning.
I have been rather sick for the past week with a really sore throat. Over the weekend, it started turning into more of a cough and sinus stuff (I'll spare you with too many details). Well, Monday night Levi woke up after about an hour of sleep, and I could tell his throat was hurting. I gave him some generic Tylenol and got him to sleep again, but only for about 45 more minutes. What little sleep Levi got Monday night was when he was wallowing, I mean, laying on me, which meant I got very little also. Kevin had started feeling bad, and so he also barely slept. Thus the reason Kevin and Levi were sitting in Kevin's chair at about 5:20 am watching Popeye.
Update on 5-26-10: we're all beginning to feel a little bit better.
This afternoon, Levi had his first trip to the driving range! We were a little worried that he would try to run after the balls he hit from the tee, because that's what he gets to do at home - and that he would be too loud, yelling, "POW!" whenever anyone hit the ball. We really thought he would have a hard time containing his excitement, but he surprised us both with his obedience. Kevin had to buy a bucket of golf balls for Levi to allow him out at the driving range, and Levi loved having his own bucket.
He drove balls from his bucket until he had about five left. Then, he decided he wanted to watch his daddy play. While he was entertained for a moment, I investigated the putting green. Levi and I headed over there once I knew we would have it to ourselves.
This morning, Kevin found me and Levi mixing the ingredients for a baked pancake for Levi's breakfasts this week. He is really becoming a wonderful helper; only a few minor messes and totally worth each one for the fun he has in helping.
Last night, some of our friends from church gave us a going away party. It is really sad to even think about saying good-bye to our friends here. They have been such an integral part of our lives here - most of them with us from singlehood to marriage to parenthood. It has truly been an amazing journey. I am excited to see where God takes our little family and to watch what God continues to do in the lives of our friends - even though watching will be from farther away.
Growing up too fast; that's my boy. He's still hovering around 29 pounds. He's close to 36 inches tall. He still loves golf and soccer. He's beginning to really love playing with cars, too. He likes playing with the little ones he can push around. But, he also likes playing in the driver's seat of any vehicle - including the lawn mower.
I got two very sweet cards from my boys on this Mother's Day and a framed picture of Levi from Redcliffe.
We went to Nana (or Nanny, at times) and Papa's church and then to lunch with them to celebrate Mother's Day.
I thought Levi looked very grown-up and handsome in this outfit, so I had to take a couple of pictures.
You know at least one picture will be of Levi playing golf.
Kevin had a soccer meeting this morning for the region in Columbia. Since we were in the capital city, we made a trip to the zoo, probably our last before we move. It was so warm that the animals were not very active, but Levi did get to see monkeys, lions, bears, different types of birds, and giraffes. Here are my boys checking out the bears.
We didn't stay too long before heading to the nearby national park. We walked, and Levi rode in the stroller. In the beginning of the walk, he watched and listened - and even sang a little bit. We heard him saying/singing, "Happy, happy, happy", as he was putting both of his little hands up next to his face. He was singing his version of "If you're happy and you know it." It was so precious!
He had not had a very good nap and ended up falling asleep.
I know, I know, he's getting to old to have his "pap" (i.e. pacifier), but we just haven't made him cut the tie yet. We're planning to let him have it at least one week after we move - thinking that might help the transition.
Now that the weather is nicer in the evenings, we are spending more time outside playing golf, soccer, and sometimes t-ball. Here are a couple of clips of him playing Friday night.
He loves to have his daddy outside to play with him, but sometimes I think that Levi worries he might not get the soccer ball back once his daddy gets it. That's the reason I think he says what he does at the end of this video.
Levi is growing like a weed and is getting a mouth full of teeth. Last week, Levi started putting three words together. One of the first times I heard him say his three-word-phrase was one evening last week. I had watched him go into our bedroom, and he came running out saying, "I did it!" He was so proud of himself, and I asked, "What did you do, Levi?" He grabbed my hand and took me into our closet and pointed to my shoes. "Mama shoes," he said. He had taken my shoes from the den where I had taken them off and put them away for me! I was most impressed. He has also begun to climb into chairs and onto the sofa, after which he will proudly state, "I did it!" He is so precious.
His allergies started acting up last Thursday, and we're trying desperately to keep off a sinus infection. The allergies didn't stop us from heading to Redcliffe on Saturday morning. It is one of our favorite places (Kevin and I got engaged there), and Kevin had really been wanting to take some pictures. Most of you have probably seen some of the pictures on Kevin's Facebook page, but for those who haven't seen them, I thought I'd share a few.
See all those teeth?!?!
I had really wanted Kevin to get one with Levi and this fire hydrant. The little fire hydrant just looked so cool to me, and Levi finally started investigating it when I explained how it would work.
